Thanksgiving in July

It is officially 99 degrees out at the moment, and today I cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner for lunch — in a non-airconditioned house. Am I crazy? Probably! But it’s Oma’s birthday, and she turned 85 today, and that’s what she asked for (of course, when she asked last week, it was only 72 degrees outside). Surprisingly enough, it worked out just fine. The turkey stayed juicy, and even my stuffing tasted good — which shocked me, since there’s no such thing as packaged stuffing here, and it was the first time I’d ever worked with fresh rosemary, sage and thyme. But anyway… thanks be to God for Dorli Braun, and may we enjoy her for several more years to come!
