In reading the voluminous commenting on the privilege meme, I wandered across this fascinating exercise you could use with a range of ages, and that helps people visualize inequality. Turns out this was designed by Polly Kellogg, a professor at St. Cloud State University here in MN. I hope I get the chance to meet her at some point. Looking for her on the web also brought me to this nifty collection of articles on social responsibility by faculty at SCSU.
