We had a wonderful weekend, last weekend, working and learning with each other about children’s ministries. And now you can “listen in” at least to the main plenary presentations. We’ve put them up in a streaming video format. You might use Joyce Mercer’s presentation, for instance, as something to share with your education committee and as a jumping-off point for discussion. Or maybe you’d enjoy the panel (Stephen Bouman, Kelly Chatman, Lisa Kimball, Umo Udo) and their discussion of justice and advocacy on behalf of children. Ok, I admit it, I’m kind of oblivious to the challenges facing truckers. But Barbara Ehrenreich’s blog post woke me a up a bit, and reminded me that a whole lot of people are being hurt in the economic downturn — and eventually, we’ll all be hurt. Can we, instead, all sit up and start paying attention? Can we ask whether we could have economic stimulus that shapes and supports the common good, rather than making millionaires richer?
