Part of why I like reading the dailyKos site is not its progressive take on the news — although I appreciate that — but the diversity of what can be found there. Here’s a wonderful travelogue/video diary from a scholar who works with art songs in India.
A great set of books on constructivist approaches to learning.
Andrew Sullivan calls its a “mental health break.” It’s a lovely way to lose yourself for a moment.

We shall overcome / Ma Piruz mishavim yek Ruz, sung by Joan Baez for the people of Iran.

Here’s a list I want to return to, of films — primarily documentary — that I’d like to watch.

Some of you may have been following the story of Lt. Dan Choi, the Iraq veteran West Point graduate who is fluent in Arabic and also happens to be gay. He refused to lie about that, and in the process may be about to be discharged under the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. He’s asking for people to sign this petition supporting his continued presence in the military.
I think I’ve found Juan Cole’s tribute most interesting and illuminating of things I didn’t know. Jackson was part of my youth, and the energy of his music can still make me want to dance.
