Which thought then makes me ponder what it means that I'm here in St. Louis, at the Catholic Theological Society of America meeting, and am having a hard time finding papers I'm interested in. Is it simply that my interests have veered off from what members of a society such as this find pertinent? Is it that I'm early in the meeting (which is certainly true, it only began last night), and I need to be more patient? YES. But I also wonder if there's something about a meeting in which people gather in large rooms to hear other people read papers (which is, quite literally, what's been happening), is there something about this kind of meeting which is rapidly fading into irrelevance?
